MWWD is a modern insurance coverage law firm accelerating beyond the status quo by prioritizing innovation, sustainability, and teamwork as part of our commitment to providing trusted advice and excellent results for our clients.

We specialize in representing insurance companies in complex coverage disputes arising out of a multitude of different claims, including environmental, construction, intellectual property, trademark infringement, public entity errors and omissions, products liability, mass tort, bad faith, entertainment, personal injury, and advertising injury. While MWWD’s primary focus is on insurance coverage, we have broad experience in other areas of commercial business litigation, including advising and representing clients in intellectual property and general business disputes. Additionally, many of our attorneys have significant trial and appellate practice experience.

As part of our overall strategic plan, MWWD fully transitioned to a paperless and cloud-based practice prior to the arrival of the global pandemic in 2020, utilizing various Microsoft programs and technologies, including Microsoft 365 and Teams.  While our pre-pandemic transition to the cloud was part of a conscious commitment to embrace technology and foster greater sustainability, our forward thinking and investment in the future allowed us to seamlessly transition to remote work with no loss of efficiency or interruption in the high-quality service we provide to our clients.  In fact, MWWD has thrived in recent years notwithstanding the significant changes and challenges in the legal profession brought about by the pandemic, and is proud that our strategic planning, resilience, and embrace of technology placed us in a position to expand our workforce and not need a Paycheck Protection Program (“PPP”) loan.


While many other firms have retreated to the pre-pandemic model of requiring employees to endure the inefficiencies of commuting to the office full-time, MWWD continues to evolve and look towards the future by investing in our people and supporting a remote-friendly workplace.  MWWD empowers high performance in our team by promoting a culture of flexibility, learning, innovation, comradery, and personal connection, believing that all are essential elements for a thriving law firm. 


In 2004, founding members Andrew McCloskey, Kathy Waring, and the late John Riedl, implemented their shared vision for a boutique law firm that specializes in insurance coverage, creating what is now known as McCloskey, Waring, Waisman & Drury LLP.  In doing so, they transferred their big firm experience from Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps LLP and Duane Morris LLP to their new boutique firm which was focused upon excellence and superior client service in all phases of insurance coverage representation.  Members Sonia Waisman and Michael Drury similarly draw upon big firm experience from Morrison & Foerster LLP and Greenberg Traurig LLP, uniting to make MWWD a well-respected and trusted partner for the insurance industry.

MWWD has resisted the trend toward consolidation and merger in the legal industry and continues to provide our clients with the same outstanding legal representation in a focused and cost-effective package upon which the firm was founded.  Our partners are actively involved in every case and all MWWD attorneys are accessible and responsive to our clients’ needs.
